Here’s one of my first club flyers from back in 1988/89 : Acid House ground zero… I was about 16/17 - can’t be exact, it’s all a blur!
The venue was a soon to be infamous student union bar, set on an amazingly futuristic 1970’s concrete university campus in Uxbridge… straight out of Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange. The party was put on by my art school mate Alex Gold - who was only 16 and already working for ZYX records, and spinning with the big guns. This venue went on to host a number of incredible parties and concerts over the next few years - along with Studio Valbonne in Maidenhead - full of completely soaked-through spiral-permed Fiourucci / Chippie clad kids E’d out of their minds…arms flailing, chins juddering, in one big steaming sea of ACID HOUSE energy… many pounds were shed and many braincells were lost to the cause. looking back it felt like being in The Somme.
